The tone of the girl’s voice broke her heart— well, if she had one. However, Carmilla was never good at these things. She was never good at comforting someone, or talking in general. She was always quiet and stayed in the background. The thought of the new vampire being so distraught and fearful of the situation was kind of unsettling. She tried to think back to when she was turned. She was afraid, but she didn’t remember how afraid she was. It was all new. The world was seen in a brand new light that she had never thought about in life. She wondered if the other saw it that way.
“Ava… That’s a pretty name. Where did you come from? I haven’t seen you around the campus before… You look entirely too young to be attending college, anyway.”
♚ ;; ava opened her mouth to answer, but found that no words came out. she honestly did not know how or why she was at the college ( she didn’t even like education all that much ) and it honestly hurt a little to think about it. almost as if her own mind was repressing her from thinking about it ( the thought of her mind keeping her own memories from her sounded bizarre ). so instead of thinking why she was there, she simply tried to remember the last thing she could and– maggie. maggie had been the last person she had been with, and she could recall P A I N. she couldn’t blame maggie though, the way she had treated the other when they were younger was terrible. she felt something catch in her throat as she spoke.
’ i live not too far from here– actually im kind of in walking distance… the last thing i can remember is being with my… friend( she cringes saying the word friend ) maggie. ’
The vampire ran a hand through her hair with a sigh, dark chocolate optics falling to the floor as she tried to think about where to begin, what to tell this girl. She guessed she should start with her name and where she was. She stood from the drawer and walked towards the redhead, arms crossed over her chest as she sat beside her.
“Alright. I’ll tell you. First off, my name is Carmilla. And you’re at Silas University. You are experiencing the same things I experienced about 400 years ago… You might feel an emptiness, a stinging, incredible regret… Your heart… might feel like it’s not even beating. Your mind spinning in confusion and pain. And you just want to lay down and wish it all away… sweetheart, you’ve been turned into a vampire. I don’t know by who. Maybe it was my mother, or that idiotic brother of mine… I’m not sure. It’s a lot to take in. I know… But I’m willing to help you. You want to tell me your name, sweetie?”
♚ ;; ava listened intently. she was afraid– no absolutely T E R R I F I E D. what the other was describing was exactly how she felt. she felt all of them, if it was even possible. an emptiness as if something was wrong, a stinging as though she had been betrayed by her best friend, and incredible regret for EVERYTHING she had done in life ( though its not like that part was any different than from before ). her heart felt gone, her mind was pounding, and she really, really just wanted to lay down and DIE( there was no point in wishing it away if her life was just as bad before ). she could feel something building up to the back of her throat as she took in the mountain of new information. it made her sick, knowing that she’d be living for– how long ?eternity ? she was struggling enough with life as it was.
’ i’m… ‘ she began, but she found that her voice was near gone. she cleared her throat, wiping away at the tears in her eyes she had not realized had formed until now. ’ i’m ava… ’
“You’re not going to kill anybody. It doesn’t work like that. You have complete control over your own actions. Now don’t be ridiculous. Will it make you feel any better if I said I would keep you at bay?”
♚ ;; ’ … you just called me a KILLER– how can you say that and then state that i’m not going to kill anybody? from what you told me, i need to drink blood or whatever to survive. if i have complete control, maybe i just won’t drink blood ever. and no !! it doesn’t help because no matter what, i’m still a VAMPIRE.‘
Carmilla recognized these symptoms right off the bat. She remembered having the same ones when she was murdered that night in 1698. It seemed so long ago… But who would have brought this girl back to life? Was it… Was it her mother? Why did she need another minion? The vampire shook her head and knelt beside the girl, a sudden comforting nature about her.
“Come here, sweetheart. Let’s get you into some better clothes. I think I can explain what’s happened.”
She sat the young girl on the bed and began sifting through Laura’s— because she’s the only one who would have a nightgown or something— drawers.
♚ ;; ava’s hand subconsciously rose, rubbing the ripped spot on her chest. the wound that typically would have been there if she had not been t u r n e d was simply now a SCAR. one that would obviously torment her for the rest of her life– how ever many d e c a d e s that was going to be. it still throbbed, though, STUNG– as if it were still fresh. a grimace appeared on her face, before she followed and sat down on the bed. crimson orbs were full of confusion and fear.
’ i-i don’t really want new clothes– not right now at least… i just want to know what’s going on. ’
fear was rushing through her veins, and she could feel her heart– no. no she couldn’t feel her heart. it wasn’t beating, it wasn’t moving. tears welled into her eyes as panic washed over her. she was dead. DEAD. she was in a dream– she must have been.
Pale fingers gripped the soda can as the young woman glanced at the girl standing before her. She quirked a brow, chocolate optics scanning the girl.
“Alright, I’ll bite,” -metaphorically speaking of course. “Who are you and why are you in my dorm?”
♚ ;; ava froze, crimson orbs with a glint like blood widening. dried b l o o d trailed down from the corner of the girl’s mouth. she honestly did not know why she was there– the last few hours had been a blur, but it had been PAINFUL. almost as though she had gone through d e a t h. the red dress she adorned had a large rip in it, as if pierced by blade, on it’s chest and around it stained blood.
’ i-i’m… ’ her head was spinning; she could barely remember a n y t h i n g. ’ i’m AVA, i think… i can’t remember much… ’
